Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy in Surrey, Hampshire and Berkshire
Firstly I would like to say hello and a warm welcome to my website!
If you have stumbled across this site on the internet you have probably been searching for help with anxiety or depression in some form, or are curious as to whether Cognitive Behaviour Therapy is right for you. Hopefully you will find the information here that you need on order to make an informed choice as to a way forward. The Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page may be particularly useful if this is the case.
So who have you found? My name is Malcolm Toyer and I have been working as a Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist mainly in the NHS but also some Private Practice for the past eighteen years. My background is in Mental Health Nursing and I have over thirty years experience in all in this field in the NHS. I currently retain my Nursing qualification but am no longer registered as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council. What drew me to use Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) more in my work, and go on to specialise in that area, was that the techniques I tried with clients worked in helping people overcome their difficulties, often in a short period of time. Today CBT is widely known as an evidence based approach for many common mental health problems, and the range of disorders it can be adapted for has increased and extended.
I am an accredited Practitioner in CBT with the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapy (BABCP) and have been for many years. I am also able to offer Clinical Supervision to other therapists in addition to my client work.
I have a particular interest in OCD, Recurrent Depression and Trauma, and use the so called 'third wave' strategies such as Compassion Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR) in addition to CBT when they are necessary.
I work with individuals from the age of sixteen upwards and am experienced in helping clients with the following issues:
In addition I have also worked with clients who are adjusting to living with a Long Term Medical Condition.
My practice is within easy reach of Aldershot, Ash Vale, Blackwater, Bracknell, Brookwood, Camberley, Crowthorne, Guildford, Farnborough, Farnham, Fleet, Pirbright, Sandhurst and Woking
